We Must Keep It Going - Livvo

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 11/11/2002

STEVE Livingstone spoke about the Stoke game and how important that the commitment continues."The objective was to come here and get the three points. We've got a run going now and we've put a string of results together. We can't throw it away."

"We were disappointed not to beat Gillingham" he told the Grimsby Telegraph, "but this makes up for it. The more points we get in this little run we've got going the better. They will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season."

"For my goal I just caught the defence square and ran through the middle and John Oster picked me out. I saw the keeper off his line and thought the chip was on. I remember thinking 'can I do that?' but I did and it was just instinct really. I was more disappointed with my celebration because I didn't know what to do - I was in shock that it had worked!"

On Campbell's free-kick, he said; "Stu asked the ref if he could take it, the ref said it was okay, and he pushed him out of the way and curled it in. He just caught the keeper asleep."

"It was a great start but our biggest mistake was to sit back too much. We should have knocked the ball about a bit more and tried to keep it."

"They were the home side and they were always going to have a go at us but we coped with it well. We scrapped and we fought and we showed the qualities we're going to need if we're to survive this season."
