Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Same Old Story!

ONCE again, the Mariners appeared to be the best footballing side on the field against Walsall on Saturday but still finished the losers. Sloppy defending according to Stacy Coldicott cost us the game.

Perhaps Paul Groves has got his priorities wrong and should stop going on about getting a striker and start looking for defenders. It is not as though we are not scoring goals. We are just letting the opposition run away with it and score simple goals through lack of attention.

Coldicott said in the Grimsby Telegraph; "We keep coming away and putting in decent performances and not getting anything. We're gutted. When we're on top in games we have to be ruthless and believe we can win games."

"We were away from home and, in the second half, drawing for large chunks and on top. It was inevitable if we kept putting pressure on them we'd get a chance."

"But then the goals we conceded have just killed us. Any football that was played it was played by us. But I bet Colin Lee (Walsall manager) isn't bothered about their performance - he's got the three points."

On Paul Groves he said: "He said that we don't give ourselves chance and he's right. When we're on top we've got to believe that we can do it. It's evident to everyone that we're having a lot of possession in games. But we've let ourselves down with some bad defending."
