By: GTST
Date: 27/01/2003

GRIMSBY Town FC have given their backing to the Grimsby Town Supporters' Trust (GTST) proposal, following a meeting between representatives of the two groups held at Blundell Park on Wednesday.

During the meeting, which was attended by Grimsby Town Chairman Peter Furneaux, Directors Michael Chapman and John Fenty and key club staff, GTST representatives presented further detail about their aims and objectives, and the work that will take place over the coming weeks to formally launch the Trust.

The meeting centred primarily on ways in which Club and Trust will be able to work together in the future. Several prospective joint projects resulted from the discussions and these will be explored further in the near future.

Grimsby Town FC Chairman Peter Furneaux said, " The Club was only too pleased to meet with members of the Trust's Working Party, allowing them to outline their ideas and proposals. We look forward to the official formation of the Grimsby Town Supporters Trust and will certainly be interested to hold further discussions in the future."

Dave Otter, acting Chairman of GTST commented, " We are delighted to have the backing of Grimsby Town Football Club, and look forward to working with them for the future benefit of both clubs and fans alike."

The Grimsby Town Supporters' Trust will be officially launched on Sunday 9th March 2003, with a press launch at 2.00pm - 2.45pm. More comprehensive details of the launch will be released as the plans are finalised over the coming weeks.
