Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Slipped Through the Net

By: Richard Lord
Date: 29/03/2003

THIS is Slipped Through The Net. Seven former Grimsby Town players have been interviewed about their time at the club and other related matters to offer you very exclusive stories and opinions.

Blundell Park has seen many players come and go; now you have the chance to understand why the players chose to join Grimsby and their reasons for leaving.

The Fishy first started publishing Slipped Through The Net some years ago when Dan Humphrey - an exiled Town supporter - decided to track down ex-Mariners and question them about their time at the club. His work was very popular with the fans as it offered an insight to how the players viewed the club as a whole.

Slipped Through The Net has since disappeared and, after more than a generous rest, it has returned - bigger and better than before.

In fact, background work has been progressing steadily over the past few months and now it is finished, fully edited and refined to bring to you the latest batch.

Bradley Allen, Michael Boulding, Wayne Burnett, Aidan Davison, Kevin Donovan, Clive Mendonca and David Smith have all answered questions - submitted by you, the fans - to help bring you conclusive answers. No topic was avoided and no questions were averted.

Slipped Through The Net is in a bracket of its own. There has been a recent gap in the GTFC market, with a series of history books dating to 2000 (We Only Sing When We're Fishing being the latest addition) and Slipped Through The Net is looking to exploit that gap.

The Fishy is proud to introduce the return of Slipped Through The Net Each day there will be two players to read up on, starting this weekend with Bradley Allen and Michael Boulding.

Monday will give you the chance to read what Wayne Burnett and Aidan Davison had to say, and Tuesday puts Kevin Donovan and Clive Mendonca in the hot seat. David Smith follows on Wednesday.

Your opinions will be very welcome and there will suitably be an opportunity later in the week for all of you to express your views on this latest work from The Fishy.

Thank you.

Richard Lord
