Farewell to Santos and 585 Others!

THE Sun newspaper reports today that 586 professional footballers have been placed on the free transfer list. Those released include former Manchester United European Cup winners Teddy Sheringham, Jesper Blomqvist and David May, as well as ex-Arsenal stars Nigel Winterburn and Stefan Schwarz.
The Sun pointed out that Blackpool's Paul Dalglish (son of Kenny), Southend's Gavin Strachan (son of Gordon) and Grimsby's Stacy Coldicott (soon-to-be ex-hubby of Big Brother housemate Steph) are all out looking for work.
PFA chief Gordon Taylor believes 200 players will not find work as clubs face up to a new world of financial reality.
According to the club's recent statements Grimsby Town will be one club helping those unemployed footballers who are looking for work. With 10 new faces forecast to join the club, (or is it 10 signings including some old faces?) Paul Groves might be spoiled for choice with so many well known names just looking to put pen to paper.
