Laurens Ten Heuvel Loan Move!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 08/08/2003

PAUL Groves is hoping to sign Sheffield United striker Laurens Ten Heuvel on a loan deal in time for Grimsby Town's big kick-off at Plymouth tomorrow. Groves is confident Ten Heuvel will be on the flight to the south west tomorrow and is still working towards completing the free transfer deal.

Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph; "We can't agree and there are one or two things that we still want to sort out." A loan deal would buy us a bit more time and we're hopeful we'll have him on board. The deal to sign him is not a million miles away and, all things considered, it's not insurmountable. But there are other things going on too.

"A loan puts us at the mercy of Sheffield United and it will be down to them. But time has run out on the permanent so we'll probably have to do that. If we can get him across then we will. If we don't, and we can't, then we'll have to go from there.

"But, at some stage, we will get a centre forward. It's just a matter of timing and getting it sorted."
