Hamilton Injury Blow

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 15/09/2003

DES Hamilton will miss Tuesday's match with Swindon through injury. The absence of the former Newcastle midfielder, who would have returned from a three match suspension, is yet another blow for Paul Groves, who had promised to ring in the changes against the Robins.

Grimsby have suffered all season from midfield injuries, and the Town boss's options of what he can change in the centre of the pitch are consequently limited. Midfielders Alan Pouton, Stacy Coldicott, Iain Anderson and now Des Hamilton are all now on the injury list, meaning that Groves will probably have to pick himself in midfield for the Swindon game, unless he decides to make a formation change, or play Chris Bolder.

  • In other news today Town assistant manager Graham Rodger has been cleared by the FA of the assault charges he had faced over an alleged head-butting incident with Stoke boss Tony Pullis last season. "It was very important to me on a personal level to have my name cleared for something I didn't do", Rodger told Radio Humberside.
