Paul Groves - No Baggage!

SCUNTHORPE United boss Brian Laws signed Paul Groves on a month's loan today, as reported earlier on the Fishy. But Laws made it clear that Groves is not coming to Scunthorpe carrying any baggage.

"Paul still has a lot to sort out with Grimsby, but in the meantime he is here to help us out. He has got the experience that I feel we desperately require and he also has the ability to play in defence as well as midfield."

"I know all about him and what a good player he is from when I was at Grimsby. He will be a fantastic acquisition for us. I am certainly not worried about his age, that doesn't come into it. It is his leadership on the park that will be an asset to us and that is what his game is about."

"Paul is an honest player and I am confident he will blend well with the rest of the squad we already have here."

"He is coming here for a month and we will only talk about his future when his loan is nearing an end. We are not getting involved in anything about what has happened at Grimsby, we will just see how things go."

"Paul wants things that have happened to stay in the past. He is coming here simply to play football."
