County Sign Edwards!

GRIMSBY's best defender of last season, and many fan's choice for Player of the Year, has been signed by Notts County on a three year contract. Former Hull City defender Edwards became out of contract with the Mariners at the end of the season, having only been offered a one year deal last summer.

The signing means Edwards will be playing against the Mariners next season in Division Three, as County were relegated along with Grimsby from Division Two.

With Town having only six players still under contract, and other clubs likely to pick up the best of their out of contracts, managerless Town look like changing beyond all recognition when next season starts.

In other news today the pre-season friendly on July 26th with CSKA Sofia has been cancelled after the Bulgarian club pulled out of the fixture. An alternative fixture is currently being arranged with another top European side.

Town chairman Peter Furneaux confirmed today that the Mariners have not been approached by any prospective manager currently employed by another club. The announcement on the identity of the new manager has been "imminent" since last season ended.
