Is football a business or a sport?

Rambo in Action

SIMON Ramsden played for over an hour in last night's reserve defeat at York, his first taste of football for three months since suffering from a career-threatening neck injury.

A delighted Town boss Russell Slade told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Rambo played more than 60 minutes and has not complained about any adverse reaction. That's good news as far as we are concerned - it's always difficult with an injury like this and being out for so long."

With Terrell Forbes now available again following his court appearance, the imminent return of Ramsden, and forgotten man Tony Crane possibly only a month away from a comeback, Slade will shortly be back to a full complement of defenders to pick from.

West Ham trialist Greg Pearson also played in the 2-0 reverse against the Minstermen. The 19-year-old striker impressed sufficiently for Russell Slade to keep him on for a few more days and give the Birmingham-born youngster another reserve outing.

"Greg is still raw but he was keen and showed good energy," said Slade. "He is here for a few days so we will have a look at him in training."
