Feedback!

The Fishy looks at the feedback and rants submitted during the month. A mixed bag with views on Hockless, player managers and the future of the club.

Chopper21 wastes no time with: Hockless = Waste Of Space!!!

Just to say to those fans who rave about Graham Hockless, that what a waste of space he was against Rushden after he came on as a substitute around the hour mark.

When coming on before, fans have moaned that he never has enough time to prove himself and show off his skills. Well, after seeing him for a good half an hour at least, I can conclude he did not shine at all! Blazing over two awful efforts from outside the area, neither anywhere near the target.

I can see a repeat of a Mr. Mansaram here as he is no way good enough to match the standards of say a Reddy or a Parkinson on the wings.

When considering certain players' exits at the end of the season, I suggest that Russell Slade very carefully considers Graham Hockless' position at the club.

Graham Baker: A Player Manager

G'day from Aussie,

Being a Mariners fan since approx 1950 my mind goes back to the heady days when we had a player manager called Allenby Chilton. The manager was one of the team, the manager was playing on the pitch, the manager actually ran things from the sharp end.

The fans saw the manager in action each match. Please consider a player manager in the centre of defence again.

Oh for the good old days!!!!!

Steve Johnson: The Future

I recently wrote concerning Grimsby's lack of faith in young players and over reliance on short term signings. On Saturday I was able to watch 3 points thrown away by inept team selections and poor substitutions. The players obviously do not know what formation is operating and there are too many players playing in positions where they do not have the skills to succeed. An overlapping Fullback who is slow and has no left foot, no creativity in midfield and a goalkeeper who did a passable impression of a windmill and is playing because there is no one else.

A substitute who was obviously unfit and one who can play football but has lost all confidence because he knows that the manager will berate him in public The manager must go ,not because he did not reply to my personal letter of good luck at the start of the season, but because he is out of his depth.

He does not have a playing policy he believes in. He does not bring on young players and he has made too many poor short term signings.

Surely now is the time to introduce youth but of course there are so few left and which promising player will want to come to play for Grimsby. I regret to say it but some time in the Conference may be what the club needs but not with the present manager.

P.S. My 3 year old grandson wants to be a goalie. He looks as old as Saturday's warm up goalie and is as good as the one who played.
