Ex Ajax player who signed for Town after a loan spell early in 2001. Initially impressive, his superb left foot was a weapon rarely seen at BP before. His free kick at Preston was a superb goal and his corner for Zhang Enhua's winner at home to Burnley was akin to the deliveries of Sinisa Mihailjovic.
Unfortunately he tailed off after the first 6 games of 01/02 and ended up as a very ineffective and expensive waste of space. All he contributed were numerous high wide and not so handsome shots on goal.
After Paul Groves took over it was obvious Willems was not in his plans and a financial settlement was reached to cancel the Dutchman's contract in the summer of 2002.
Now at Sparta Rotterdam.
