Martin Pringle

A gifted player whose career was plagued by injury. Started his career at Swedish side Helsingborgs in 1994, before joining Benfica in 1996. In his three years at the Portuguese side, he made just forty appearances, scoring six goals.

In early 1999 he was drafted in to help Charlton's unsuccessful fight against relegation from the Premiership. In just under four years at the Valley, he played 75 games scoring 11 goals, and a loan spell at Grimsby in 2002 was short lived. After terrorising the Nottingham Forest defence on his debut, he put in a mesmerizing performance against Stockport - setting up an easy tap-in for his former Charlton team mate Bradley Allen, and creating another goal for Andy Todd.

Little did Pringle know that he had just minutes of his professional career remaining. A sickening challenge by Dave Challinor shattered the Swede's leg. As Pringle was stretchered off in agony, Challinor incredibly only received a booking for the tackle that had finally ended his career.
