Town Lose Out To The Iron

SCUNTHORPE United progressed into the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup after beating Grimsby Town at Blundell Park last night. With the final score 0-0 Scunthorpe won through on penalties.

It took Town some time to get into the game and only Michael Reddy got an opportunity late into the half with a shot that went over the top.

The mystery of the game was that Wayne Browne of Chester was in goal and not one of the Town reserve keepers. As expected Lee Fowler took some part but missed his penalty in the decider.

Overall it was an uninspiring match with both sides struggling to show any form with Scunthorpe appearing to play the better football.

Town: Brown, McDermott, Newey, Ramsden, Crane, Jones, Bolland, Barwick, Parkinson, Gritton, Reddy.
Subs: Lukic, Whittle, Fowler, Toner, Cohen.

Scunthorpe: Musselwhite, Byrne, Williams, Butler, Crosby, Taylor, Hinds, Sparrow, Corden, Keogh, Torpey.
Subs: Johnson, Stanton, Rankine, Parton, Capp.
