GRIMSBY head to Torquay on Saturday with several injury worries ahead of the long trip to Devon. Defender Rob Jones (ankle) is a major doubt and former Gull Martin Gritton (back) and Gary Jones (toe) are also hoping to recovering from injuries in time.

With Simon Ramsden and Justin Whittle both some way from returning to action, if Rob Jones does not make it then Matt Bloomer is likely to be recalled to start in central defence alongside new signing Ben Futcher.

It had been thought Futcher would be suspended for the trip to Plainmoor, but the number of yellow cards the former Pilgrim was reported to have received whilst at Boston was incorrect. and the six footer has been cleared by the Football League to play, despite being booked against Darlington on Tuesday night.

Torquay have struggled in the league this season, and currently lie third from bottom - just one point above the trapdoor to the Conference. The Devon outfit, like the Mariners, had a game on Tuesday night, which they lost 2-0 in a replay to Premiership side Birmingham.

Torquay will be without defender Adam Lockwood, who has been recalled midway through a loan spell from Yeovil. The only other slight doubt for the Gull's is striker Morike Sako, who was been suffering with a hamstring injury this week, after limping off in the replay against the Blues, but the Frenchman is expected to be fit in time to face Town.

Torquay's leading scorer this season is No. 8 Alan Connell, a 22-year-old former Bournemouth frontman. Ex-Mariner loan striker Paul Robinson, who also scored a hattrick for Hartlepool against us in our 8-1 defeat there, is currently on the books at Plainmoor, but does not regularly start games.

Manager Leroy Rosenior said after the FA Cup replay: "I was delighted with them. Now that's out of the way, let's win on Saturday and start picking up points in the league.

"We can't put games away at the moment - we are playing well but when we have got teams on the rack we are not putting them away."
