League 2 Round up : Weather 1-0 Football

By: Jake Olley
Date: 05/03/2006

IT was a quiet week of football where only one team won, Weather United. Mind you some managers may have been wishing their game had been called off after some results. We start our round-up with Wycombe.

Despite fourteen games being called off six were in League Two, the pick of which was Carlisle's home game against Lincoln which gave Town and Wycombe chances to climb to the top of the league but they both failed. We start our round up at Wycombe.

At Whaddon Road Cheltenham picked up a suprise victory against Wycombe thanks to goals from Gavin Caines and Steven Gillespie. Wycombe though where on course to win it after Roger Johnson gave the Chairboys the lead but they failed to raise there game and where beaten by a good Cheltenham side.

In the game of the day Leyton Orient shared a six goal thriller with Shrewsbury at Gay Meadow. It could have been so different after the O's went 2-0 up only for poor defending to damage there hopes and give Shrewsbury a 3-2 lead nut the lead only lasted a minute before Adam Tann earned the promotions chasers a point.

In the Nottinghamshire derby between Notts County and Mansfield at Meadow Lane the score finished 2-2 after bitterly cold conditions damaged Mansfield's hopes of sentencing the neighbours to a sixth straight defeat.

At Underhill Barnet took a surprise 2-0 lead against play off hopefuls Wrexham only to give their lead away and hand Wrexham a 2-2 draw. Fellow strugglers Stockport County were also blown away by a strong Peterborough side at London Road thanks to goals from Dean Holden and Ryan Semple.

That concludes this week's League Two Round-Up.Hhopefully when you tune in next week football can get back on and have a clean bill of health without any postponments.
