TOWN have taken on Southampton hot prospect and under-17 youth captain, Craig Richards, on trial. It is understood that Richards will spend around a week with the Mariners.

Richards, who once scored nine goals in twenty appearances, is a renowned central defender who has great leadership qualities and was already on the verge of breaking into the reserve side. He is a highly rated and well respected member of one of the best academies in England that has produced players of the caliber of Theo Wallcott. Richards is expected to play a reserve game for the Mariners before they take up a possible loan move for the seventeen year old.

Meanwhile, Fellow youngster John Lukic has successfully came through a operation on troublesome shoulder. It still remains to see though whether he will be available to deputise again for Steve Mildenhall before the end of the season.
