Beat the Bookies: Week 34

By: Rob Sedgwick

RUSHDEN and Torquay did Grimsby a favour last week by beating Orient and Wycombe respectively, and Rushden also did Beat the Bookies a favour as their victory was last week's tip.

This weekend Grimsby make the short trip to Lincoln. It's a match in which the bookies can't separate the two sides, with bet365.com making City slight favourites at 7/5. Town are 8/5 and a draw is 9/4. My money would be on a draw if anything.

Elsewhere in League Two in-form Carlisle and Northampton are both odds-on to win at home against mid-table sides. The big match of the day is Leyton Orient v Wycombe, which could go either way. bet365.com just favour Orient at 5/4, but don't discount Wycombe at 9/5.

All of the matches in League Two are either difficult to predict this week, or predictable but odds-on. Odds On and League Two are not generally a good combination! Consequently we turn elsewhere this week for the best value.

In the Premiership West Ham are flying at the moment. Last weekend's defeat to Pompey can largely be discounted as a weakened side were played due to the impending FA Cup match, which West Ham won. The Hammers head to Wigan, who have stuttered in recent weeks, especially at home. bet365.com are surprisingly generous at 11/4 for an away win, and that is this week's recommendation.

RECOMMENDED BET OF THE WEEK:
West Ham to beat Wigan (11/4)
