Rodger Appointed - The Club Statement

By: GTFC
Date: 05/06/2006

SINCE the departure of Russell Slade, the Board of Grimsby Town Football Club has considered many applications for the post of Manager. They have now made their decision, which is to promote Assistant Manager Graham Rodger to the role of Manager.

His contract is for 2-years with a further 2-year option

This leaves a vacancy for the Assistant Manager's role yet to be appointed.

In one of several interviews with prospective applicants for the top job, Graham has impressed and has earned the Boards full backing take our Club forward.

Graham appointed by Alan Buckley also playing in the style of Alan Buckley has since gained considerable managerial experience under Paul Groves, Nicky Law and Russell Slade, during this time he also stepped up to the role of caretaker manager twice.

We had seriously considered Graham for the Managers position before the appointment of Russell Slade, but felt he needed more time to develop his contacts and knowledge of players at this level.

Graham is Grimsby through and though, players Rob Jones and Michael Reddy have credited him with their progress, there is little doubt he deserves this promotion, the Board are sure you will join them in wishing Graham Rodger the best of success in his new role.

We have made it quite clear to our new manager; there will be financial support to mount a serious challenge for the next campaign.
