Pair Sign New Deals

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/12/2006

BUCKLEY Babes Danny North and Andy Taylor have both signed new two-year contracts with the Mariners. The teenage strikers had both been on short-term contracts which expired in the new year, but their performances have sufficiently impressed the new Town boss to warrant a new deal.

Both players have had their chances this season to have spells in the first team, and the pair have both looked promising when they have come in to the side, albeit not the finished product. Taylor scored his first goal for the club in the away win at Chester, whilst North has yet to score for the Mariners but started in Buckley's first two games for the club at Northampton and Wycombe.

The pair join fellow first-year professional and local youngster Peter Bore as fully paid-up members of the first team squad.

Buckley earlier cast his judgement on some of Town's other youngsters. Midfielder Paul Ashton and defenders Miles Chamberlain and Ben Higgins were all released by the Mariners a week ago.

Town currently have three young players on loan from Stoke and Birmingham which, combined with the presence of our local teenagers in the squad, has resulted in lowering the average age in the dressing room quite considerably.
