Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Martin Gritton

A friend who watched Torquay United described Gritts as 'the most natural finisher at the club', on announcement of his signing for Town.

Despite a promising partnership with Reddy, the goals never really came thick & fast - I remember a couple of games when he was just about unplayable (the 4-0 home win over Notts County sticks in my mind), but others where things weren't going too well for him - he'd get frustrated easily and spend time arguing with the officials.

On the whole, I thought Gritts was potentially a top quality player at this level - but it never really happened on a consistent basis.

He's virtually unrecognisable nowadays, without the long hair and beard.

Was on Lincoln City's books last season - but soon found himself out on loan at Mansfield where he did reasonably well- weighing in with a few goals. Returned to The Imps towards the end of 2006/07, but has been released. It wouldn't be too surprising to see him sign for The Stags on a permanent basis this summer - although I have no basis on which to back this up.
