I really enjoyed watching this winger. He went to school in Grimsby, played lots of games for Derby and then played for us in Division Two (now The Championship)

On his day could outpace any full back and he played a big part in 83/84 when we finished 5th. This is an often forgotten season considering it was our best finish in the last 50 years and Paul was one of a number of unsung heroes

The next season we finished mid-table and if he played well, so did everyone. We had forwards like Drinkell, Wilkinson and Lund all of whom benefited from his crosses.

Unfortunately he didn't fit into Mick Lyons type of play and he was lost to us, but he shouldn't be the forgotten man he tends to be.
