Defender Signs Loan Deal

THE Mariners have signed Barnsley central defender Rob Atkinson on a one month loan deal. Atkinson is equally adept as both a central defender and as a right back, but his height will no doubt see the central role as being his position in the Town defence.
A regular at the Barnsley Academy and reserve team level throughout 2003/2004, Rob made his first team debut in March 2004 against Luton Town.
A talented defender capable of playing at full back or in the middle, the youngster is tipped for a bright future in the game. Rob spent much of 2005/2006 on loan with Conference side Scarborough and gained rave reviews from his time on the East Coast.
