Beat the Bookies: Week 31

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 12/03/2008

WREXHAM came up with the goods again this week. Beat the Bookies has won most of the bets it has placed on the basement side to win, many at long odds, and last week saw a 21/10 winner.

Grimsby face one of their great bogey sides Darlington this weekend, and the Quakers are flying high in the league as well. Darlo thumped Town 4-0 at Blundell Park earlier this season and the measly 3/1 on offer for an away win does not look good value, despite Grimsby's excellent recent away form.

Elsewhere in League Two Wycombe have started a run on the outside rails and have now motored into fifth place. They look good for a play-off spot but would like to go the extra distance and have a good chance to gain ground on third place Hereford at Edgar Street at the weekend. Both teams recent form is good, but Wycombe's odds of 13/5 to triumph look good value for a fixture they won last season.

Stockport are one of the form teams in League Two and face recently improved Lincoln at Sincil Bank. City have very little to play for now the spectre of relegation has faded but the visitors in contrast need to consolidate on their play-off position. County can be backed at a respectable 13/5 to grab three points.

Away specialists Accrington travel to Spotland to take on inconsistent Rochdale, who would be in a play-off spot if they take advantage of the customary three games in hand they always have at this time of year. Stanley are 10/3 to come away from the local derby with three points.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Stockport to beat Lincoln (9/5, bet365).
  • 2. Accrington to beat Rochdale (10/3, bet365).
