Barnes Wins POTY Award
By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/05/2008
PHIL Barnes last night added the Supporters Player of the Year award to the Fishy's award that he had already won. The Town 'keeper collected both awards and several others at last nights Player of the Year award at McMenemy`s.
Barnes has improved dramatically this season after two average years as Town's No. 1. The Yorkshireman was one of the main reason Grimsby managed to get to Wembley in the Johnstone Paint Trophy and he was also instrumental in the surge away from the bottom of the table at the beginning of 2008.
Some of the results from last night are as follows:
The Internet Mariners Grimsby Town Player of the Year: Phil Barnes
GTST Most Improved Player of the Year: Nick Hegarty
Goal of the Season: 1st Gary Jones curling effort against Carlisle
Grimsby Town Official Web site Player of the Year: Phil Barnes
