A YOUNG Grimsby Town team salvaged a draw in the Mariners' third pre-season friendly at Winterton Rangers on Monday night, substitute Danny North equalising on 82 minutes. Rangers' Rob Northern had given the part timers the lead on 48 minutes in the rearranged fixture.

Indeed Winterton could have extended their lead had not Town 'keeper Gary Montgomery saved a 61st minute penalty from goalscorer Northen.

Town rested several senior players as they have another pre-season friendly at Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night.

Town starting line-up: Montgomery, Norminton, Jackson, Fenton, Bird, Bore, Hunt, Rhodes, Llewellyn, Taylor, Jarman

  • Former Mariner Michael Boulding has ruled out a return to Blundell Park in favour of an unknown League One club, possibly Cheltenham. Alan Buckley's search for a new striker continues.
