Beat the Bookies: Week 23
By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 15/01/2009
LAST week's postponements meant that only one of our tipped games was able to take place, but Notts County sprung a surprise to beat Exeter and continued our losing streak!

+With so many postponed games recently and a lot of new signings dotted around the League Two clubs it is not time to be backing favourites as surprises may be the order of the day. It's just finding them!
Wycombe v Grimsby The ultimate surprise would of course be our own Mariners to win at run away leaders Wycombe - the longest price on this week's coupon. However with half a new team waiting to make their debuts of one sort or another for the Mariners expect the unexpected. Town are available at 7/1 with Sky Bet. The spread price is not yet available at the time of writing, but Wycombe concede very few goals so Grimsby's mini performance quote is likely to be ultra low, and a potential source of profit should the Mariners net a couple whatever the final result. Alternatively you could go with The Monkey and select a 3-1 win at a mouth watering 66/1! Selection: Grimsby
Darlington v Luton. Darlington might be near the top of the table and Luton at the bottom but it's the away side who have the best recent form. Luton are unbeaten in six, whereas the Quakers have won just one of their last half dozen games. With those stats Luton have to be the pick at 7/2. Selection: Luton
Rotherham v Bournemouth On paper you would expect this to be a home win but after three defeats it could well be the Cherries who want to win this game more, and they certainly need the points. Rotherham have come out of a sticky patch with a few wins recently, but Bournemouth have a lot of fight in them yet and will be desperate for a win. Selection: Bournemouth
Rochdale v Lincoln Another fixture with not much to choose between the teams so why are Lincoln 10/3. Only one way to find out! Selection: Lincoln
Bradford v Accrington Stanley Despite the comment about going for the outsiders this is a home banker if ever there was one purely because Stanley's form has been so terrible of late - other than a win over us! Bradford (8/13) don't lose much but have drawn a lot of games recently which they would normally have expected to win. Selection: Bradford
Exeter v Bury This match could go either way with both sides doing well. However City's home form has always been good especially from teams at the other end of the country, and they should see off the challenge of the Shakers. 7/5 looks a good price for a home win. Selection: Exeter
