THE first wave of outgoings has started today, with wide man Peter Till and left back Tom Newey told their services will not be required next season, as Mike Newell sets about assembling a squad worthy of challenging towards the top of the league next campaign.

Peter Till made his first appearance for the Mariners against Accrington Stanley on 25 November, and became a key player under Buckley, playing over 60 games for Town, before falling out of favour with new manager Mike Newell and subsequently moving to Chesterfield on loan in January for the rest of the season.

Tom Newey signed a one-year contract with Grimsby Town in June 2005 and was one of the first new signings under Grimsby's new boss Russell Slade. He was ever-present in Slade's, Rodger's and Buckley's sides, before injury around the time of Mike Newell's arrival, stopped him playing regularly. He turned down the chance to move to Lincoln on loan in January before eventually moving to Rochdale last month. Tom made 150 in total for the Mariners.

Although heavily criticised at times, they did show moments of hard-work and ability and I'd like to wish them well for the future.

I'm sure this will be the start of a big clear out this summer and I'm looking forward to see the side developing into a promotion winning team! *fingers crossed*.
