New Striker Signs

CARDIFF striker Josh Magennis has signed on loan at Blundell Park for a month. The 19-year-old, who is a regular with Northern Ireland Under-21, has made eight substitute appearances for Cardiff this season.

Welsh-born Magennis originally played in goal before making the switch to a forward. The 6'2" striker played for the Northern Ireland under-17s as a goalkeeper and then bizarrely switched to the other end of the pitch for the under-19s.

Newell needed to strengthen his side after losing Adam Proudlock and Nathan Jarman through injury and Barry Conlon through suspension..
