Town Lose to Stirling

IT was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show as Grimsby followed up their impressive 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday with a 2-0 reverse at Scottish outfit Stirling Albion.

Nick Hegarty conceded a penalty on eight minutes to the Scottish Division One side, which was converted, and Stirling sealed their vitory with a goal 10 minutes from time.

In between Town were largely outplayed, and had few chances of their own to look back on for signs of encouragement.

Town boss Neil Woods was not happy with his side's showing, telling the Grimsby Telegraph: "The performance was abysmal. However good we played against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, we were two-times as bad here. You cannot get away with only playing well in one game, you have to do it week-in week-out.

"The pace we set from the start was very poor and the scoreline flattered us. They could have been four of five goals up in the first 10 minutes."
