Grimsby v Luton Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 21/10/2011

TOWN face Luton in a Friday night televised game they really need to win to rekindle any hopes of climbing into a play-off position at the end of the season. Luton currently sit in the final play-off position ten points ahead of Town.

Three points would put the Mariners within seven points off the top five, with still two thirds of the season to go, although most of the other teams will have played a game less until Saturday.

Serge Makofo returns to the squad after missing out through injury in the last two games, where his pace and unpredictability has been missed on the left wing. Left back Jamie Green is once again unavailable however, Town's only absentee through injury.

Despite the near fully fit squad there are likely to be some changes at the back after a string of poor defensive displays. None of the back four, or the 'keeper, can be assured of a place in the side following recent mistakes. Only the fact that the Mariners have scored 10 goals in their last two home games has overshadowed their problems at the back, especially from set pieces.

The Hatters will be without Amari Morgan-Smith, Alex Lawless, Ed Asafu-Adjaye, Dan Gleeson and Freddie Murray. They do however how former Mariner Tommy Wright on their books after the striker recently signed a short term deal with Luton.
