Port Vale v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/11/2011

NEW signing Manny Panther is set to make his debut against Port Vale in Saturday's FA Cup tie in Burslem. The on-loan Aldershot midfielder has been signed to strengthen the midfield and looks likely to displace Andi Thanoj in the starting line-up.

Town have other options to make changes as Jamie Green is finally fit again although the left back has just a practice match this week against Scunthorpe under his belt so may not be risked. Winger Rob Eagle is also available after a hamstring injury.

Town will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing draw against Bath last weekend and have the perfect chance to do so against higher league opposition for the first time since their exit from the Football League in 2010.

Port Vale have lost 3 out of the last 4 games, although they still sit just outside the play-off region in League Two. Vale's recent form has not been helped by a number of injuries to the squad. Ben Williamson (knee), Lewis Haldane (broken leg), Ryan Burge (knee), Andy Little (knee) are all ruled out and striker Marc Richards is rated doubtful. Defender Lee Collins could be set to return after a two month injury play-off with hernia and groin problems.
