Bath v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 07/02/2012

SUBJECT to a pitch inspection this afternoon Grimsby will be making the long trip to Bath for an FA Trophy tie they will be desperate to avoid a draw in to avoid further disruption to their league program.

The FA Trophy is not to be dismissed however as it culminates in a lucrative Wembley final which would also be a great day out for players and fans alike.

Town have four cup-tied players who are ineligible for the tie. Centre back Ian Miller and new signing midfielder Louie Soares cannot participate in the competition. Likewise striker Kiernan and Kenny Arthur are both cup tied.

Town midfielder Craig Disley has recovered from an injury but utility man Bradley Wood is a doubt.

Striker Anthony Elding has recently committed himself to another year at the club in a contract extension and no doubt will be looking to celebrate the new deal with a goal.

Despite the relative unimportance of the FA Trophy past games would indicate Grimsby are likely to field their strongest possible XI.

Bath will be hoping to gain revenge for their 6-0 trashing at Blundell Park in the league recently, the first time that Grimsby had managed to beat the Romans. However not too much can be read into that result as it is one of few defeats recently for a City side that have improved prior to that match from their poor start to the campaign. Since the 6-0 thrashing Bath have lost 3-0 and 2-0.
