Hereford v Grimsby Team News

GRIMSBY are not expected to make any changes to the team which emphatically beat Mansfield on Bank Holiday Monday. The Mariners have no injury worries other than long-term absentee Liam Hearn, so will be looking for a repeat performance against one of the early season pace-setters.

The only bit of business conducted by Town this week has been to extend the loan of Fleetwood's Nathan Pond until January. The big centre back has come in and done a good job in the back four, and it's possible he could stay at Grimsby beyond January if all parties can reach an agreement.

There could have been a player leaving Blundell Park this week. Striker Anthony Elding was the subject of a formal bid from a Football League club this week, but the Mariners have rejected it as they are entitled to do with the 30-year-old under being contract with Town.

Hereford were unbeaten until Tuesday when they lost to 100% team Newport. Nonetheless the Bulls remain one of the favourites to make an immediate return to the Football League, something that has only been done once.

Hereford winger Marley Watkins is a doubt for the Bulls after limping out of the game against Ebbsfleet last Saturday and also receiving a knock in the Tuesday night game in Wales. Brian Smikle is expected to replace Watkins.
