Three Precious Points for Town

GRIMSBY completed a double of 1-0 wins over Forest Green last night to put some distance between themselves and the sixth place club. Grimsby were not at their best offensively but were solid at the back and only needed one goal to win the game, which they managed to do.

The one negative for the night was a first half injury to midfielder Derek Niven who limped off with a groin injury midway through a lacklustre first half and was replaced with Thanoj. Neither side had looked like scoring in a dull first half, although Forest Green did hit the post just before the break.

Town stepped up the pace in the second half and came close to scoring a number of times. Thanoj delivered an excellent cross for the goal which Naylor bundled in at the far post.

Town held on to complete the double over Forest Green, to record what was a deserved win.

Forest Green: Russell, Hodgkiss, Stokes, Turley, Oshodi, Bangura, Klukowski, Fowler, Vieira, Taylor, Norwood

Subs: Forbes, Asafu-Adjaye, Wright, Green, Odubade

Grimsby: McKeown, Wood, Thomas, Miller, Naylor, Colbeck, Disley, Niven, Marshall, Cook, Brodie

Subs: Hatton, Devitt, Thanoj, Hannah, John-Lewis
