Beat the Bookies (Summer) Week 2

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/05/2013

ALL three bets lost in Week One, which was just a initial dip into the summer markets. We can't do without football to bet on so this week we're betting on MLS (American Soccer), our first venture into that market, we could do with some beginner's luck! We're also making our first moves into Baseball and Tennis this week. Summer is here!

Home > 2012-2013 Season > Beat the Summer Bookies > Week 2

Rugby League was a bit different last week as nobody was really at "home" in Magic Weekend so it was difficult to assess the form. This week we've got the French Open, we generally prefer to go with women's tennis as they play 3 sets all year round so it's easier to see how they will match up then with the men, who play 5 sets in the slams and 3 the rest of the year.

Football

  • New England v LA Galaxy - home win (3.45, Marathon). New England have lost just one of their last six games, that's a better record than LA Galaxy who have lost three from their last six matches. Galaxy have also lost two of their last three road games.

  • New York v Vancouver - draw (4.2, Marathon). Both teams have been rather partial to draws recently. New York have drawn two of their last six games and Vancouver have drawn three from six. Even New York's other recent home games that haven't ended in draws have been close: then won one 1-0 and lost another 2-1.

    Rugby League

  • Widnes v Catalans Dragons - home win (3.0, Bet Victor). Widnes have had an excellent home record since they returned to Super League, and this season they are a much more serious contender for the top eight. The Dragons tend struggle when they travel, although granted they were impressive in the Magic Weekend last week. It's the sort of bread and butter game though which they've tended to lose over the last couple of seasons in particular. Last year the score was 34-42 and both sides have scored a lot of points recently to expect another high scoring encounter.

    Tennis

  • Varvara Lepchenko vs Angelique Kerber - Lepchenko (2.7, Marathon). Lepchenko has beaten Kerber on all four occasions that the two have met, although she is out-seeded now. She's ahead 8-3 in sets which is pretty comprehensive, although they haven't played for two years.

    Baseball

  • CHI White Sox @ CHI Cubs (30th May) - Over 7.5 (1.97, Marathon). The last two games between these two have been high scoring with loads of hits as well. The better pitchers seem to be on the mound tonight, but high still looks the way to go on this handicap.
