DEFENDER Carl Magnay has joined the Mariners from Gateshead where his contract ran out this summer. The 25-year-old has signed a one year deal at Blundell Park.
The former Northern Ireland U-21 International has spent all his career at Gateshead, although he spent his Youth at Leeds and joined Chelsea after leaving the Elland Road academy.
Magnay, who can play anywhere across the back four, made 25 appearances for Gateshead.
Former Town winger Alex Rodman this week made the opposite journey when he surprisingly joined Gateshead, Grimsby's conquerors in the play-offs last season.
