Lincoln v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/08/2015

GRIMSBY hope to make up for the point dropped in their last two games and at the same time gain revenge for the six points the Imps took off the Mariners last season. Paul Hurst wrung the changes in the last game against Torquay and it's likely he'll reverse at least some of his selections.

Since the departure of full back Carl Magnay to Hartlepool in the summer Grimsby have struggled to re find their defensive form of last season, and the manager has yet to settle on a first choice back four. Hurst brought in Toto Nsiala at right back for the Torquay game to try and cope with Torquay's height but the decision was hardly vindicated when the visitors raced into a two goal lead. Toto came off in the first half during that game with a foot problem, but he has since recovered and is available again.

Hurst's most controversial decisions were in midfield and attack where he left out two of his most praised players so far this season. Clay was dropped to accommodate new loan signing Matt Robinson and stop scorer Padraig Amond was overlooked to bring Mackreth into the side. Both Clay and Amond must be strong contenders to return for the Lincoln match, especially the latter as he came off the bench and scored to stake his claim.

Marcus Marshall (knee) and Jon-Paul Pittman (stomach) have both recovered from their injuries, and give Hurst some more options to consider.
