Town Progress in Trophy

GRIMSBY finished on the right end of a five-goal thriller in their cup replay with Solihull Moors last night. The much-changed Mariners' team fell a goal behind when James Armson broke clear and scored for the hosts. However within a minute former Solihull striker Omar Bogle netted against his former club.

The unlikely turnaround was completed in rapid time when striker James Alabi scored from the spot three minutes later, before Jack Mackreth adding a third to give Town daylight. Asante scored from the spot for Solihull with ten minutes to go to set up an exciting final ten minutes, but the Mariners reached the finish line and inflicted a rare defeat on Solihull Moors, who could be dining at non-league's top table next season.

The Mariners will face either Wealdstone or Weymouth in Round 3, their prospective opponents had their game postponed and will meet in the new year. Town's involvement in the FA Trophy hasn't caused any league games to be postponed yet, but if will if they make it to Round 4.
