Forest Green v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 03/03/2016 (Last updated: 08/03/2016)

GRIMSBY face Forest Green in Friday night's televised clash, a match which the Mariners surely have to win to maintain their lingering hopes of claiming top spot. Even if Town win they will need both Cheltenham and Rovers to drop a lot of points in the remaining ten games for them to pip both sides to the line.

The Mariners are still not assured of a play-off place and Town will be looking for a top 3 finish as a minimum to secure home advantage in the second play-off semi, if they have to miss out on an automatic promotion place.

Both teams have virtually full squads to pick from. Grimsby are missing winger Marcus Marshall though illness and injury, and the home side will be without 'keeper Jonny Maxted.

Rovers need to win the game to keep the pressure on Cheltenham, who dropped some rare points in the last two games, where they have only managed a solitary draw.

The match is live on BT Sport, and is all ticket on the day.

  • Grimsby will now play Braintree at home on Tuesday, April 12, and Woking away on Tuesday, April 19.
