Hurst Wields Axe

GRIMSBY will have a new look side next season after mass changes at the club in which nine players left. Eight players have been released and midfielder Jon Nolan has decided to join League One side Chesterfield.

The players released are: Callum Bastock, Danny East, Gregor Robertson, Craig Clay, Anthony Straker, Marcus Marshall, Andy Monkhouse, Josh Sunter and Jon-Paul Pittman. Loan players Ryan Jennings, Pat Hoban and Evan Horwood have also not been offered new deals.

Of the "retained" many of the players are out of contract including goalkeeper James McKeown, full back Richard Tait, captain Craig Disley and striker Padraig Amond. All of those players are free to consider offers elsewhere.

Just four players are under contract as of this moment: Josh Gowling, Shaun Pearson, Omar Bogle and Harry Clifton.

Paul Hurst has to take a hard look at his squad and decide who is good enough for League Two and how he wants to play in the new division. Over the next few weeks Hurst will be bringing a lot of new faces to have a look at Blundell Park.

The Fishy would like to thank all of those players who contributed to Grimsby's promotion this season. They will always be welcome back at Blundell Park, whoever they play for.
