GRIMSBY have been drawn at Bolton in the First Round of the FA Cup. The Mariners will face the four times winner of the tournament, one of the biggest clubs in the hat, on the weekend of 5-6 November. Town lost at Derby in the League Cup and have lost both their EFL Trophy games, so will be keen to progress.
Paul Hurst has a good cup record while at Grimsby, and the Mariners have generally performed well against higher league opposition.
The two teams used to be regular adversaries in the early part of the Twentieth Century when Town played in the top flight. They met again regularly in the 80a and 90s in the second tier of English football. Town have in fact not beaten Bolton for 17 games stretching back to the 1982-1983 season!
