Town Exit FA Cup
By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 05/11/2016
GRIMSBY'S FA Cup campaign fell at the first hurdle, as did Town's other ventures in the EFL Cup and EFL rophy. The Mariners have been knocked out at the first round in every tournament they have entered and have not scored a goal outside of Football League games.
Town deserved to be a goal down at break as the gulf between the two sides was apparent. However in the second half Grimsby came into the game more and Vernon and substitute Rhys Browne both went close, with the latter denied a late goal that would have earned Town a replay. The Mariners had plenty of possession but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal, a common problem this season.
The match could like be Dave Moore's last as caretaker manager with the new boss expected to be appointed shortly
