Chesterfield v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 04/08/2017 (Last updated: 11/08/2017)

RUSSELL Slade begins his firsts full season of his second spell as Grimsby boss having spent the summer shuffling his squad. Slade has brought in eight new players, although the elusive No.9 striker spot remains unfilled.

Midfielder Jamey Osborne (knee) and striker Akwasi Asante (upper leg) both will be missing from action for some time, which leaves Slade's options limited especially up front. If nobody signs before the weekend then Scott Vernon and Harry Cardwell will probably be the only option to spearhead the attack.

Other injuries are Chris Clements and Sean McAllister, although they are not as long term as Clements and Asante.

New signings Mitch Rose, Siriki Dembele, Sam Kelly, Nathan Clarke, Harry Cardwell, Ben Killip and Paul Dixon are all likely to feature.

Chesterfield are also starting a new chapter following their relegation from League One last season. New left back Jerome Binnom-Williams (ankle) is injured, but a host of new signings may take part.

New arrivals Brad Barry, Joe Anyon, Scott Wiseman, Gozie Ugwu, Jordan Sinnott, Delial Brewster, Chris O'Grady, Jak McCourt, Louis Reed and Robbie Weir are all available.

'Keeper Tommy Lee may also return after a long-term shoulder injury.
