Grimsby v Lincoln Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/09/2017

CHRIS Clements has surprisingly joined Barrow on loan. The goal-scoring midfielder missed pre-season this year and has struggled to fight his way back into the side. Russell Slade has not given Clements a chance this season and Barrow will benefit from his services for 3 months.

Otherwise right back Zak Mills has returned to training, so could be a choice at right back instead of Ben Davies. Slade rested Sam Jones, Jamille Matt and Mitch Rose for the Colchester game and all three will be hopeful of a recall following a less than impressive home performance. Jones in particular, who came on a sub, and scored the equalising penalty, must be close to returning to the starting line-up.

Lincoln midfielder Billy Knott is suspended and winger Nathan Arnold is fit again after recovering from a knock. Arnold will be making his first return to Blundell Park since the conclusion of the triumphant 2015-2016 season, after which he left Town.

Grimsby and Lincoln resume their derbies after a one-year break. Town had the upper hand for most of the National League meetings, winning 6 and losing just 2 of the 10 non-league meetings. Only in the 2014-2015 season, when Lincoln did the double over Town, did the Imps really have the bragging rights.
