Yeovil v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/01/2018

GRIMSBY take on Yeovil tonight desperately needing at least a point to stop their slide down the table. Yeovil are one of the teams below Town in the table, and they return to league action following their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Friday night.

The Glovers have signed three players this month. Former Motherwell striker Alex Fisher, Southampton forward Ryan Seager and West Brom defender Shaun Donnellan completed a trio of impressive signings this week as Yeovil look to move away from the bottom two.

Town have several injuries and their loss of form in recent weeks means Russell Slade may turn towards some of his fringe players against the Glovers. The Mariners got a good point at Colchester with the new 3-5-2 formation, but Grimsby fired a blank against 10-man Luton at the weekend. striker Sam Jones has been struggling with illness, and loan keeper Jake Kean joins James McKeown on the injury list which may mean another start for Ben Killip. Leeds loanee Mallik Wilks could well feature up front now that Russell Slade has had chance to have a good look at the youngster.

Grimsby have won their last two games against Yeovil, both at Blundell Park. Town beat the Glovers 2-1 this season and 4-2 last. The equivalent match last year ended 0-0.
