Swindon v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/04/2018

GRIMSBY head to Swindon hoping for at least a point and with one eye on the Chesterfield and Barnet scores. The Mariners could achieve mathematical safety with a win and the right results elsewhere. On the other hand defeat and wins for the other teams would drag them right back in it.

Town still have a shortage of fit strikers but are likely to play with just one in a 4-5-1 formation. Jolley chose Scott Vernon to lead the line at Wycombe and the Mariners came close to gaining at least a point in that game. Zak Mills will miss the rest of the season, but Ben Davies is fit again as a ready-made replacement - if needed.

Swindon need a win to stay in with a shout of the play-offs so boss Phil Brown is likely to have a very attacking line-up. Top-scorer Luke Norris (shoulder) is still injured and striker Kaiyne Woolery is also doubtful. Former Mariner Olly Lancashire (calf) also doubtful and loan signing Kellan Gordon (shoulder) has returned to parent club Derby.

The Mariners beat Swindon at Blundell Park this season, so know they are capable of taking something from the game, which on paper is the hardest of the three remaining.
