TOWN have signed Derby County striker Charles Vernam in a two-year deal. Vernam, originally signed on loan at Blundell Park, by former boss Russell Slade, was here when Michael Jolley arrived but his appearances were limited be a knee injury.

Since then the 21-year-has returned to Derby and recovered his fitness. Vernam went to school in Caistor and played for Scunthorpe as a youth player before joining Derby six years ago where he never played a first-team game. However, he had loan spells in Iceland and with Coventry and lastly Grimsby where he scored one goal in nine games last season.
