Grimsby v Oldham Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 14/09/2018

ELLIOT Embleton is poised to make his debut in the Oldham game at Blundell Park. The Mariners will be hoping to bounce back from their drubbing at Bury and the presence of the on-loan Sunderland midfielder, back from England U-20 international duty, should hopefully boost the team.

The midfielder, on loan from Sunderland, has yet to feature for the Mariners having been away with England's Under-20s side. Danny Collins returned from a broken arm in last weekend's 4-0 defeat at Bury and is likely to continue, while John Welsh has been nursing a back problem but should be OK to feature.

Loan winger Ben Pringle is also yet to feature and could come into the reckoning. Defender Reece Hall-Johnson has returned to training, but Saturday's game is probably too early for him. Paul Dixon, Andrew Fox, Elliott Whitehouse and Harry Cardwell are all on the injury list. However, striker Wes Thomas does return from his two-match ban.

All in all, Jolley is expected to make several changes for the Oldham game.

For winger Oldham Gevaro Nepomuceno and 'keeper Daniel Iversen both return from international duty with Curacao and Denmark U-21 respectively.

Ishmael Miller (hamstring), Cameron Dummigan (groin), Jordan Lyden and Giles Coke are on the injury list.

Grimsby and Oldham have only met twice in the last 20 years. The Latics did the double over Town the season they got promoted from Division 2, 1998. The last time the two teams met was the infamous 6-0 drubbing at Boundary Park in 2004.
