GRIMSBY took a giant leap towards avoiding relegation with a 1-0 win over MK Dons at Blundell Park. Justin Obikwu scored the only goal in the first half, but Gavan Holohan had a penalty saved just before halftime.

Town defended resolutely after the break but prevented MK Dons from creating any clear-cut chances.

Gnahoua and Eisa came in for Green and Rose as the only changes from the draw at Sutton.

Town scored with their first decent chance. A good ball from Mullarkey fell to Eisa who squared for Obikwu to finish.

Obikwu won a penalty just before half time but Holohan’s spot kick was saved.

After the break, it was mainly MK Dons who had possession, but Grimsby still had the best chance when Wood hit the post with 10 minutes to go. Town defended superbly to hang for a valuable three points and dent their opponents' automatic promotion hopes.
